Magnetic Lashes Might Be the Devil

Hey there! My latest beauty experiment was with magnetic lashes. I thought ok great this should be easy…. boy was I wrong.

I’ve struggled with fake lashes forever! Anything to make it easier I’m all for! I don’t typically wear fake lashes myself but my clients love them. I purchased the Ardell Magnetic Lashes in 110.

They claim on theĀ  box to be easy to apply! You get two sets of lashes with magnetic strips on them. The idea is that they connect around your natural lashes. The directions say to lay the top lash on top of your lash line and then take the bottoms and connect.

Simple right? No! I didn’t have much luck with that technique so I tried a lash applicator, I was very excited about this technique…. it made it worse!

Finally I figured out that the ends need the most work and maneuvering. I went back to using my fingers and I got it!

This definitely takes practice but after this experience I feel like I will just sick to lashes and glue! I might feel differently trying this on a person rather than myself.

It might be a while before I touch the magnetic lashes again.

Have you tried them? Do you want to try them?

What’s New At the Drugstore

Hey hey! I’ve been seeing all kinds of new and revamped products at the drugstore and decided to try a few.

I got the Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow palette from Maybelline, TruBlend Matte Made foundation, Clean Professional loose setting powder, and Peach Punch Blush all from Covergirl.

I’m in love with the lemonade palette. It’s pigmented, versatile, and fun! It’s been a will since I used Maybelline shadows but let me tell you these are excellent! Bendable and gorgeous. This has become a go to palette in my collection!

The Covergirl trublend matte foundation is surprisingly good! I tried it first without a primer and it has great coverage, it is truly matte but not flat, and it has great staying power. Their color range is pretty decent as well. Coupled with the clean professional loose setting powder we have a winner! The only con about the powder is the smell but I’m biased because I’m used to the peach powder from Too Faced. Lastly we have the peach punch blush, it does smell like peaches which is pleasant. The pigmentation is great and it’s not too sparkly. This I could’ve done without though. There’s nothing special about this blush, you can find comparable and cheaper products on the market.

Overall I’m impressed with the drugstore brands really stepping it up. There are a few more brands/products I might give a try.

Milk Makeup: Matcha Toner

Happy happy Wednesday! Today I’m reviewing the Milk Makeup Matcha Toner.

I’ve tried a few products from Milk Makeup and I’m impressed thus far. The brand has a very simple aesthetic but great products!

The Matcha Toner is a solid gel toner stick. Yes I said stick. It intrigued me so of course I had to try it! I bought the mini in case it wasn’t good.

It has Matcha green tea, kombucha, and witch hazel to tone and tighten skin as well as organic cactus elixir to hydrate and calm.

Verdict: I love it! I think it’s extremely convenient in a stick and it really does make good on its promises!

Most toners dry your skin out because they have alcohol in them. Not the case with this one! My skin feels hydrated, calm, and clean! My pores are definitely refined as well.

I use it before bed but it would be great to prep the skin before makeup application.

Jade Facial Roller = Obsessed

Happy Father’s Day! Today we’re talking about my latest obsession, the jade facial roller.

There are many claims about the benefits of the jade roller, from lymphatic drainage to increased circulation.

I’ve used the jade roller everyday for the last 7 days straight and here’s why I’m obsessed:

  • It’s a facial massage! I deal with tension headaches a lot and facial massages help tremendously!
  • It’s cooling. I put it in the refrigerator for an extra cool.
  • It’s gorgeous. One of those beauty items you want to leave out on your vanity.

I think I need to use it a little longer to realize some of the other benefits like the circulation and product permeability.

I got mine from Marshalls! I most definitely recommend!

April Favorites

Happy May! April is out of here but here is what I was loving all month long!

20180502_084715~2.jpg

  • Formula No. 45 Coffee Scrub: bought at World Market. Amazing! Exfoliating and leaves you soft and smooth, plus the vanilla makes it smell great!
  • Gucci Guilty Black: rediscovered this month. It’s an oldie but a goodie!
  • Naked Petite Heat: been loving this palette since I bought it! The colors are perfectly pigmented and gorgeous. They blend well and this palette is extremely versatile!
  • The Ordinary the Buffet: I can’t say enough good things about this product. See my post on The Ordinary for deets.
  • Cover FX highlighter drops: these are insane! A little goes a long way! If you are a highlighter person these are for you. High shine!
  • Naked Skin Concealer: lightweight but does the job and has a highlighting effect. Love!
  • Morphe blending brush: the only eye brush I’ve been using! Blends shadows to perfection! Fluffy and feels good, can’t beat the price either.
  • Fenty Beauty matte lipstick in freakle fiesta. Great color, love the finish, goes great with the Naked Petite Heat!

Top 5 Holy Grail Beauty Products

Happy Sunday! Today we’re talking must have, can’t live without, holy grail beauty products.

My top 5:

  1. NYX eyebrow pencil with spooly- I love to keep this on hand for when I want a quick brow that’s still on point! Great dupe for ABH Brow Wiz at half the price.
  2. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara- Hands down the best mascara I have ever used. I have tried and will continue to try other mascaras but I always go back to perversion. It’s length and volume, what more can you ask for?
  3. Chapstick: need I say more?
  4. Real Techniques Foundation Brush- If I’m not using this brush I’m using a beauty blender. This brush blends flawlessly and doesn’t soak up a lot of product.
  5. Rice Brightening makeup remover wipes- My first holy grail makeup remover wipes were discontinued so it took me a while to find another. These wipes are gentle but effective and they are large! Which is great for a full face take off.

Products I Regret Buying

Happy March! I’m kicking off the month with products I regret buying. These are all beauty items and in some way shape or form they just didn’t work for me.

Now, don’t get me wrong I have tried a variety of products from these brands and they are all amazing, these particular products just didn’t do it for me.

Everybody takes an L every now and then and these are losers for me:

20180301_133931~2

  1. Shea Moisture Mattifying Primer: not mattifying, too thick, it’s like face lotion (not good)
  2. Boscia White Charcoal Mattifying Makeup Setting Spray: you end of with white specks on your face and if they get on your lashes and eyebrows you can hang it up.
  3. Urban Decay Naked Smoky: I was being bougie and wanted the next installment in the Naked palette series. This palette is fine but the colors are not regulars for me. I don’t reach for this palette often.
  4. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush: Again I was jumping on the bandwagon and this blush is not one I reach for often. The color payoff is a little chalky for my taste.
  5. Dose of Colors liquid lipstick in Merlot and Berry Me: these get very drying as you wear them. The color payoff is nice but the product doesn’t last long these broke down relatively quick, however, I think Dose of Colors have reformulated since I bought these.
