Happy Sunday! Saturday night I had the privilege of attending the grand finale show at Lexus Charleston Fashion Week. The show included the Emerging Designer Finals and Featured Designer Yigal Azrouel.

The night kicked off with the style lounge, fashion village, and pre-party which included drinks, shopping, and the red carpet.

Then the shows started! The emerging designer finals included: Tygerian Burke, Kelly Callaway, Kenya Freeman, Joan Madison, Patresea Peppers, and Emilie Schroeder. Their collections were amazing with Joan Madison winning the people’s choice and Tygerian Burke taking home the grand prize! All announced by Fern Mallis the creator of New York Fashion week.

Lastly the after party at the style lounge. The night was absolutely amazing! The fashions both on and off the runway were stunning. It was a night to mingle and just have fun with fashion.

Next up in my home town Florence Fashion Week and after that Charlotte Fashion Week! Stay tuned.

Coffee Table Books

My favorite piece of functional and fashionable décor, the coffee table book! They come in all different sizes, colors, and subjects.

You can style coffee table books a number of ways: you can stack them, prop them up, stagger them, heck they don’t even have to go on your coffee table.

I think the reason I love them so much is because you can get coffee table books in subjects you like! They not only look good as décor but you can read them as well!

I have coffee table books on travel, fashion, makeup, designers, etc. I’ve found them in a couple of different places as well. Some I ordered from Amazon but I found lot of them at a local used book store! Prices vary but I think coffee table books are timeless and chic!

I Have to Have it: Benefit Cosmetics

Benefit Cosmetics started out as The Face Place a makeup shop in San Fran CA, opened by twins Jean and Jane Ford.

The most amazing thing about Benefit as a company is that it’s not terribly serious! Some makeup companies seem so serious and straight-laced but with benefit they promote a culture of laughter and glamour! Read their mission I Love it!

The Benefesto

We believe in whistling while you work it… and faking it ’til you make it. We believe in fast and fabulous beauty solutions… and that glamour is grabbing life by the giggles and not letting go. We believe if at first you don’t succeed, apply more lipstick… that sexy gets you everywhere… and if you can’t be good, be gorgeous. We believe… Laughter is the best cosmetic!

Benefit is the best of both worlds they have an amazing culture of laughter and fun but at the same time their products are amazing! They have funny sayings and uber cute packaging but the product inside will blow you away!

Benefit’s blushes are a cult favorite. I think the first Benefit product I ever got was one of their blushes! Some of their amazing products in my collection include:

100_3400

  • Blushes: Hervana, Bella Bamba, and Rockateur
  • Hoola Bronzer
  • Watt’s Up highlighter
  • Stay Don’t Stray eye primer
  • High Brow eye highlighter
  • They’re Real Mascara

The Blushes are amazingly pigmented and smell great!

The Hoola bronzer has won awards for being a universally amazing bronzing powder. Any skin tone can wear it!

The Watt’s Up highlighter is my favorite! It is a champagne colored cream highlighter that makes you look amazing every time!

The Stay Don’t Stray eye primer is my second fav! It is hands down the best eyelid primer I have come across. The eyeshadows stay put, don’t crease, and look amazing all day with this primer.

They’re Real Mascara is on another planet! This mascara is a best-selling mascara. It takes your lashes from here to the sky! It lengthens, separates, and darkens your lashes like no other. My go to mascara hands down.

Benefit has also mastered appealing amazingly cute packaging! You don’t even want to throw it away!

There are so many other wonderful things to say about the company and many other products to mention but this post would be a mile long. In short Benefit is well worth it! Try it today!

On Trend: Beauty Oils

I went to Sephora yesterday and I was talking with my dad last night about different products and whatnot and we started talking about skin. He and I have the same type of skin, we are very oily and whenever I come across something that is amazing for me I always let him know (So we use a lot of the same products lol).

That led me to beauty oils, I said dad you should really use these they are great for your skin! He says yeah like I need any more oil on my skin.

BOOM myth number one! Beauty oils are amazing for that fact alone. In putting oil on your face you are actually tricking your skin into thinking it already created that oil so in turn you become less oily. Amazing right?

Anyone no matter your skin type can use beauty oils and reap the benefits! For those with dry skin you get the moisture you need and for those with oily skin you get less oil production.

Beauty oils come in all shapes and sizes meaning there are different kinds. There are the straight up oils that you can use any and everywhere (hair, skin, nails, etc.) then there are cleansing oils for face and body. Beauty oils are all-encompassing and treat/solve so many beauty problems.

A few beauty oils I would like to recommend include:

  • Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil both the original and the light formulas
  • Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil
  • Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil
  • Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil

beauty oils

So have no fear when it comes to beauty oils. All of these products have a bunch of amazing ingredients in them to make you your most beautiful self! Run don’t walk to check out beauty oils TODAY!

I Have to Have it: New Series

I Have to Have it, is going to be a new series for the blog. These posts will be up once a week. The purpose of this series is to take a particular brand (mostly makeup brands) and do a review on the brand and the products.

Most people do research before they go out and buy products so this is another avenue for you all to gain exposure to different brands you may have been thinking about trying. These posts will be mostly higher end brands because people definitely want to know if it is worth the money. ENJOY!

DIY: Harvest Wreath

This is my favorite time of year which means I HAVE to decorate! I have been seeing these gorgeous fall wreaths in the stores but they are soooo expensive it is ridiculous! So of course inspiration struck… DIY.

What you need:

  • a base wreath
  • harvest garland (I used three 4ft strands)
  • other little touches like flowers or festive add-ons (I used little berry looking things)

I bought everything at Dollar Tree and I spent $5!

What I did:

  1. I took the garland and wound it around my base wreath pulling an shaping as I went along. I did this with all three strands until I had the desired fullness that I was looking for.
  2. I secured the garland to the base wreath by tying it to the wreath. No hot glue or any adhesive is needed for this project.
  3. I pulled the berry looking things off their stems and attached them to the stems on the garland around the wreath and again adjusted and shaped until it looked how I wanted.
