Glam Up Your Bathroom 3 Ways

Say it with me no ugly bathrooms! Often times our bathrooms are not thought of as a room to decorate or a room that can be fashionable and functional. Outside of coordinating towels and a cute shower curtain what are other steps you can take to give your bathroom a little more flair? I’m glad you asked! Here are three very simple ways to class up your powder room.

  1. Presentation is everything! Take certain bathroom items out of their packaging like Q-tips, cotton rounds/balls, soap, etc. and place them in jars, decorative containers, trays, etc.PhotoGrid_1518880036716
  2. Show off your fragrances. Not only it is pleasing to the eye but it’s easy to see what fragrance you want to use that day!PhotoGrid_1518879942314
  3. Roll your towels. It’s stylish and fun! Find a big basket or stack them on top of each other. Atypical ways to show off and store your towels definitely adds a little something to your bathroom. PhotoGrid_1518879700004

Bonus tip: Clear your vanity off. The less clutter on your counter top the more aesthetically pleasing and the cleaner the counter top stays.

Coffee Table Styling

Are you a knick-knack person? Do you like tchotchkes? I do! I use my knick-knacks to add a flair to tables, bookshelves, etc. I use them as something extra or finishing touches.

I feel like your coffee table just screams for little decorative extras. Why not? I don’t drink coffee so I have no other choice. JK. The coffee table is such a versatile piece and often times it’s the center piece of a room, so have a little fun with it.

You can go in many different directions with coffee table styling depending on the fashion or the function of the room. This is were knick-knacks or tchotchkes come in. You can add these in to make something functional look fabulous.

Here are a few examples of different styles and pieces that create different looks.

As you can see you have quite a few options to mix and match I incorporated pictures, flowers, and books. You can add or take away just depends on your preference or the aesthetic of the room. You can have fun with color or stick to a theme.

Project Bar Cart

I’ve been working on this project for quite some time and I’m still not done  but I wanted to share my progress!

I’m not really a drinker but I like the idea of a bar cart. For me it’s more about fashion rather than function (as are most things in my life lol).

I’ve been buying a few things here and there for my bar cart. I have a few glasses, cute paper straws, a tray, etc. but no actual bar cart.

The latest addition to my cart-less bar cart are decanters!  I was shopping in an antique store where I found three gorgeous vintage crystal decanters. I bought all three for 20 bucks!

I decided to take the bits and pieces I have collected so far and do a faux bar cart styling.

I have a few more pieces but I’m on the search for the perfect bar cart. I would like something with a least two levels and with gold accents.

Vision Board: 2018 and Beyond

Hello! I figured what better way to kick off 2018 then with a vision board for the brand new year! Now I’ve never put much stock in vision boards but my mindset and my goals have evolved so much over the last year that I thought a vision board would be a good way for me to keep track of what I’m working toward.

Now my vision board is a little different. These are more affirmations and encouragements to keep me pushing and going after my goals. Life can get a bit heavy sometimes and we all need a reminder of not only what we’re striving for but how great we are! Can I get an Amen!?

My vision board can and probably will transcend past 2018 which is why I wrote 2018 and beyond.

Do you have a vision board? What’s on your board?

Meal Prep: Chicken Stir Fry

For the past two months I have been meal prepping. It is a life saver! I do it every week for my lunch for work. It’s easy and nice not to have to worry about food each day. It is also great for trying to get in/stay in shape.

I have fun coming up with different meals each week.

What I do:

Every Sunday is meal prep day. I do meat and veggies at the very least. This past week was chicken stir fry.

I made the chicken stir fry with chicken tenderloins, broccoli, mushrooms, and peppers. I cooked rice and I eat fruit with every meal prep. Depending on my work week I do prep for three or four days.

I add fruit or apple sauce and I’m set for the week! I reach in the fridge each morning pull out lunch and hit the road. This is so easy and stress free plus it’s fun coming up with a new recipe every week!

Love it. Live it. Eat it.

Table Makeover

I have a table and chair set that my parents gave me when I moved into my own place. This table and chair set is almost thirty years old! So you can imagine it needed a little makeover.

I not only wanted to update the table but I needed it to match my style and color scheme a little better.

This makeover was a total of $10!

What I used:

  1. spray paint (black and white)
  2. fabric
  3. staple gun

I did this over the span of the weekend but this project could be completed in a day or less.

Sofa Style

Often times the biggest piece in your living room is the sofa and it draws the most attention in the room as well. So make it look good! I styled my sofa a couple of different ways so you can get a feel for all the different looks you can do with your own sofa.

What you will need:

pillows and blankets

First up: Monochromatic

My sofa is gray so I incorporated silvers, grays, and gray toned beige.

Next up: Oversized Pillows

Make your sofa super comfy with oversized pillows!

Lastly: Color and Texture

With a neutral sofa I try to have fun with color and adding texture to anything is my jam! I added fun colors and shapes with the pillows and some texture through the patterns and fur blanket.

Last thoughts:

Remember your space is what you make it! Whether you want cozy, inviting, fun, happy, or relaxing you can achieve any look with a few pieces! Don’t be afraid to have fun and take some risks with color and patterns!
