ColourPop

Happy Sunday! Today I’m doing another beauty brand review. We’re talking about ColourPop.

ColourPop has come to Ulta,  previously you could only order from their website. So I figured I’d share my thoughts since this brand is more accessible now.

First let me say ColourPop has an amazing price point! They have great bundles and an awesome color range. I started with a lip bundle where I could try three products for less than purchasing separately. I started with the lip products and then into the eyeshadows.

The lip products I have include lip pencils, lippie sticks, and the ultra matte liquid lips. The color payoff and pigmentation on these products are fantastic. The staying power of the liquid lips is a little short for my taste and I have to say do not reapply over what’s left on your lips. Remove the product and reapply, if you don’t it will cake and flake. The lippie sticks are by far my favorite!

The pressed powder eyeshadows have nice color payoff and can be worn without a primer! The super shock shadows are too amazing for words! I have them in three different finishes matte, satin, and pearlized. The matte finish is my favorite but they are all great! Pigmented doesn’t even describe the nature of this color! Try them! They don’t flake and have awesome staying power.

Overall ColourPop has amazing quality at amazing prices. Order online or visit Ulta to try ColourPop!

This tour is educational, informative, interactive, and a lot of fun! This tour is for stylists, students, and consumers. Check the tour out to learn about your hair type, texture, and how to care for your hair as well as style it!

You’ll meet amazing stylists and vendors. We watched demos and learned awesome info from Design Essentials educators and stylists who have been in the industry for years,  including Ereka Fielding and Rolonda Ceasar. Amazing local vendors showcased their products including the all curls matter tshirts by Lucky Skys Kreations.

Family Photo Wall

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I want to share my take on the family photo wall.

I take a lot of pics on my cell phone,  who doesn’t? I also live in an apartment where I’m not about to put a bunch of holes in the wall to hang picture frames. I use the free prints app a lot too! I mean a lot! It’s an app that prints your pics for free you just pay shipping!

So I have all these pics laying around. Solution:

I bought these lighted strands that come with little clothes pins. I’ve found them at Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Rue 21, a bunch of places! Price? 7 bucks!  The clothes pins are metallic and some have designs. The strands light up you just add batteries.

I arranged the strands how I wanted on the wall and used the clothes pins to hang the pictures! Easy, simple, and fun!

What do you think?

Foundation

Let’s talk about foundation! I get questions all the time about what type of foundation is best for whatever type or skin or skin condition. So let’s dish!

20180330_203057~3

Typically I use a medium coverage foundation, I always try for a matte finish because I have combination skin, and I always color match for undertones. This is very important!

You have to know your skin in order to truly find the best foundation.

Dry skin needs moisture so try to stay away from matte finishes.

Oily skin produces its own moisture so you want to stay away from dewy finishes.

Skin prone to breakouts or active acne needs a light to medium coverage so your skin can breathe but look put together still.

If you are trying to cover scars, acne marks, or even skin tone a medium to full coverage is what you want.

There are foundations designed specifically for acne or sensitive skin so that is worth a try for those conditions. Some “healthy” skin foundation brands include Physicians Formula, Neutragena, Bare Minerals, Dr. Jart, or Perricone MD. Most of these have SPF too! Which is great and the mark of true healthy skin makeup.

For any skin type, tone, or condition you want to color match to your neck or chest and always remember your undertones.

Undertones can be cool, warm, or neutral. You can have pink undertones, red undertones, yellow undertones,  etc. There are many ways to determine your undertones as well. Like in the sun do you burn or tan? If you burn you’re cool if you tan you’re warm. Do you look better in silver or gold. If silver you’re cool if gold you’re warm. Look at your veins if they appear blue your cool,  if they appear green you’re warm, and if you can’t tell you’re neutral.

Undertones play a big part in the type of cosmetics you should wear not just foundation!

Then you can always choose bb/cc creams or powder foundations. With the beauty industry the choices really are endless!

If you still need help that’s ok! Visit Ulta or Sephora and get color matched but be sure to step outside in the natural light for confirmation and shopping with a trusted friend is always a good idea!

Mid Week Haul #2

Bringing you a mini haul this hump day. I was shopping for birthday gifts and I stumbled on a few things for me too!

I just received my Ulta catalog and there were a few items I had to check out.

I ended up purchasing the Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat (I’m in love with this palette!), a backup Perversion Mascara, Morphe blending brush, and ELF highlighter brush. The Vice lipstick was a freebie for purchasing a certain amount in Urban Decay products.

Top 5 Holy Grail Beauty Products

Happy Sunday! Today we’re talking must have, can’t live without, holy grail beauty products.

My top 5:

  1. NYX eyebrow pencil with spooly- I love to keep this on hand for when I want a quick brow that’s still on point! Great dupe for ABH Brow Wiz at half the price.
  2. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara- Hands down the best mascara I have ever used. I have tried and will continue to try other mascaras but I always go back to perversion. It’s length and volume, what more can you ask for?
  3. Chapstick: need I say more?
  4. Real Techniques Foundation Brush- If I’m not using this brush I’m using a beauty blender. This brush blends flawlessly and doesn’t soak up a lot of product.
  5. Rice Brightening makeup remover wipes- My first holy grail makeup remover wipes were discontinued so it took me a while to find another. These wipes are gentle but effective and they are large! Which is great for a full face take off.
