Magnetic Lashes Might Be the Devil

Hey there! My latest beauty experiment was with magnetic lashes. I thought ok great this should be easy…. boy was I wrong.

I’ve struggled with fake lashes forever! Anything to make it easier I’m all for! I don’t typically wear fake lashes myself but my clients love them. I purchased the Ardell Magnetic Lashes in 110.

They claim on the  box to be easy to apply! You get two sets of lashes with magnetic strips on them. The idea is that they connect around your natural lashes. The directions say to lay the top lash on top of your lash line and then take the bottoms and connect.

Simple right? No! I didn’t have much luck with that technique so I tried a lash applicator, I was very excited about this technique…. it made it worse!

Finally I figured out that the ends need the most work and maneuvering. I went back to using my fingers and I got it!

This definitely takes practice but after this experience I feel like I will just sick to lashes and glue! I might feel differently trying this on a person rather than myself.

It might be a while before I touch the magnetic lashes again.

Have you tried them? Do you want to try them?

What’s New At the Drugstore

Hey hey! I’ve been seeing all kinds of new and revamped products at the drugstore and decided to try a few.

I got the Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow palette from Maybelline, TruBlend Matte Made foundation, Clean Professional loose setting powder, and Peach Punch Blush all from Covergirl.

I’m in love with the lemonade palette. It’s pigmented, versatile, and fun! It’s been a will since I used Maybelline shadows but let me tell you these are excellent! Bendable and gorgeous. This has become a go to palette in my collection!

The Covergirl trublend matte foundation is surprisingly good! I tried it first without a primer and it has great coverage, it is truly matte but not flat, and it has great staying power. Their color range is pretty decent as well. Coupled with the clean professional loose setting powder we have a winner! The only con about the powder is the smell but I’m biased because I’m used to the peach powder from Too Faced. Lastly we have the peach punch blush, it does smell like peaches which is pleasant. The pigmentation is great and it’s not too sparkly. This I could’ve done without though. There’s nothing special about this blush, you can find comparable and cheaper products on the market.

Overall I’m impressed with the drugstore brands really stepping it up. There are a few more brands/products I might give a try.

My Top 5 Bougiest Beauty Products

Happy Sunday! Let’s talk bouge. There is definitely nothing wrong with being bougie. I give into the bouge all the time!

So today’s topic is definitely paying homage to those bougie moments.

My top 5 bougie beauty products (and why I love them):

  1. Cynthia Rowley Band Aids
  2. Marc Jacobs nail polish
  3. Givenchy mascara
  4. Farsali Rose Gold Elixir
  5. Mac lipstick: Kelly Osbourne Collection

If designer band aids don’t say bougie I don’t know what does! But I love them! Every little nic and scrape gets covered by these bad boys!

I’ll tell the truth the only reason I bought the Marc Jacobs nail polish was the name: Fluorescent Beige.

The Givenchy mascara screamed luxe to me, I like it and I will use it but I’ve had better.

Farsali Rose Gold Elixir is bomb, first and foremost but anything infused with 24k gold is bougie.

Mac lipstick from the Kelly Osbourne collection in Dodgy Girl. Only because i was determined to buy something from this collection and this was all that was left by the time I made it to the Mac counter!

Happy Wednesday! Today I’m reviewing Frank Body’s Lip Scrub Shimmer.

Frank Body is natural, cruelty free skincare. The products are aimed at detoxifying, brightening, and softening your body. There are products for body, face, and lips.

I tried the lip scrub shimmer. I’ve tried a lot of lip exfoliants and I have to say the Frank Body lip scrub was gentle but hard working, moisturizing, and smells great! The packaging is extremely cute and the fact that it is cruelty free is even better!

Summer Makeup Essentials

Happy Sunday! I spent today on the beach and it was hot! Which got me to thinking about my summer makeup must haves. My sweat proof,  no fail, can withstand the heat makeup go tos!

  1. Facial spray! It’s hydrating and refreshing on hot days plus it keeps your makeup in place. My go tos are Mario Badescu.
  2. Liquid highlighter. These give me a nice glow and stick pretty well when I start to sweat. My favorite right now are the Cover FX custom enhancing drops.
  3. Bronzer. Do I need to explain. When the sun is shining bright bronzer keeps my face glowing to help match the rest of my body. I choose ones with a little sparkle like the Hourglass Ambient Lighting  bronzer.
  4. Clear brow gel. This keeps my brows in place when it heats up outside. My favorite: Essence lash and brow gel mascara. Best part it’s only 2 bucks!
  5. Intense moisturizers. I like antioxidants, SPF, and hylauranic acid during the hot weather. I use beauty oils at night to soak in all night and a lightweight moisturizer with SPF during the day. I’m in love with the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb right now!

ColourPop

Happy Sunday! Today I’m doing another beauty brand review. We’re talking about ColourPop.

ColourPop has come to Ulta,  previously you could only order from their website. So I figured I’d share my thoughts since this brand is more accessible now.

First let me say ColourPop has an amazing price point! They have great bundles and an awesome color range. I started with a lip bundle where I could try three products for less than purchasing separately. I started with the lip products and then into the eyeshadows.

PhotoGrid_1526834630187.jpg

The lip products I have include lip pencils, lippie sticks, and the ultra matte liquid lips. The color payoff and pigmentation on these products are fantastic. The staying power of the liquid lips is a little short for my taste and I have to say do not reapply over what’s left on your lips. Remove the product and reapply, if you don’t it will cake and flake. The lippie sticks are by far my favorite!

The pressed powder eyeshadows have nice color payoff and can be worn without a primer! The super shock shadows are too amazing for words! I have them in three different finishes matte, satin, and pearlized. The matte finish is my favorite but they are all great! Pigmented doesn’t even describe the nature of this color! Try them! They don’t flake and have awesome staying power.

Overall ColourPop has amazing quality at amazing prices. Order online or visit Ulta to try ColourPop!
