Curly Hair Holy Grails

Hello! If you have curly hair, these items are a must! Today we’re talking about stylers and helpers. These products will work for all curly air types.

  • ORS Olive Oil Smooth-N-Hold Pudding- This product is ideal for braids, twists, and other hair styles. It smooths and holds your style in place and it is very moisturizing (perfect for styles left in for a few days). It smells great and doesn’t leave residue once you take your hair out of the style.
  • Bouce Curl: HOLY GRAIL BRAND
    • Light Cream Gel- The BEST gel on the market. Period. No crunch. Smells great!
    • Moisture Balance Leave In- Very moisturizing and smells great. It’s a fantastic primer or layering product but it’s amazing on its own.
    • Avacado & Rose Oil Clump and Define Cream- The BEST curl cream! Smells great, mositurizing, gives definition but doesn’t weigh your curls down, dries beautifully and is long lasting. This product has really elevated wash days for me. Gives new meaning to day three and four curls.
  • Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls- This styler will always be a must have for me! It gives the perfect amount of hold without the crunch. Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls gives you definition, softness, and volume and it smells great! It’s perfect as a styler or leave in.
  • Shampoo/Scalp Massager- This curly hair gadget does a great job of cleansing the scalp while massaging at the same time. Scalp massages are essential for healthy hair, they encourage hair growth and thickness.
  • Flexible detangling brush- This brush makes detangling quick and easy with no pain! The brush is flexible so there’s less pulling on the hair. Sometimes I use this as a styling brush too! Very versatile.

Bumble and Bumble BB Curl Review

Hello! I’ve been on the struggle bus for a little bit with my hair and this winter weather! It’s been tough not to put it all up in a bun and be done with it! So I’ve sought out come new products.

Today I’m reviewing a few products from Bumble and Bumble’s BB Curl line:

  • Moisturizing Shampoo
  • 3 in 1 Conditioner
  • Defining Cream
  • Reactivator

Winter hair concerns: dryness, lifeless curls, frizz (always), and scalp dryness.

I’m going to cut to the chase this is a good line! I haven’t had results like these in a while. My curls were defined but plump, I was able to achieve some excellent volume at the root, and my curls lasted for days! I used this routine for three weeks just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. The only thing I didn’t have any luck with was scalp dryness (winter side effect). I definitely recommend this line for curlies that don’t know where to start in their curly routines and/or anybody looking to try something new if your hair is used to your current products (yes this is a thing).

Moisturizing Shampoo:

  • Pros: very cleansing without stripping, smells great, no sulfates Cons: not necessarily moisturizing

3 in 1 Conditioner:

  • Pros: it’s a 3 in 1! Because it is a rinse out or a leave in you don’t have to be super meticulous about removing all the conditioner from your hair; great for detangling, love the bottle Cons: none

Defining Cream:

  • Pros: not heavy, smells great, can be a one and done product (but I did follow up with a gel) Cons: none

Reactivator:

  • Pros: smells great, does the job of refreshing my curls, smooths Cons: leaves curls feeling a little crunchy (even after a good scrunch) definitely use this on the day before wash day.

Overall I give this line a 8 out of 10. I will continue to use it, I will repurchase, and I will explore other product offerings from Bumble and Bumble.

My Bounce Curl Routine in 5 Steps

Hello! If you have been following me recently then you know just how obsessed I am with the curly girl brand Bounce Curl. Today I’m sharing my curly hair routine with all Bounce Curl products.

Step one: Shampoo- Product: Clarifying Shampoo

This shampoo smells great and the design is the best for a clarifying product. It has a tip that gets the product right to the scalp which is where the clarifying happens.

Step two: Conditioner- Product: Cream Conditioner

This is one of the best moisturizing conditioners I have every used! I apply it after shampooing and let it sit for a couple of minutes. You will really notice a difference detangling after using this product.

Step three: Detangle and moisturize- Product: Moisture Balance Leave-In

This is my first out of shower product. I detangle first and then apply the leave in all over and sometimes I run my wide-tooth comb over my hair again.

Step four: Define- Product: Avocado and Rose Oil Clump and Define Cream

This is may favorite part! I’m quite literally in love with this product. Check out an in depth post here: https://thestylishlife.wordpress.com/2020/01/20/review-bounce-curl-avocado-and-rose-oil-clump-and-define-cream/ I use this product to help further moisturize and clump my curls so they dry frizz free and defined.

Step five: Scrunch and set- Product: Light Cream Gel

The light cream gel is a phenomenal product. This is the last step in the process and where I lock in and set my curls. This product smells great so it’s a perfect last step.

When and How You Should Deep Condition

Hey peeps! I get a lot of questions about deep conditioning so let’s get the skinny on when and how you should deep condition.

The purpose of deep conditioning is overall hair health but more specifically it can add moisture, improve texture, strengthen and combat breakage, nourish, and help prevent split ends.

Even if you don’t have these issues deep conditioning is going to impart moisture which is something your hair just cannot live without. Also the biggest reason to deep condition is damage prevention.

How is deep conditioning different from regular conditioning? Regular conditioning usually takes place in the shower with a thinner conditioning product that you leave on for 5 minutes at the most. Deep conditioning usually takes place out of the shower (however you can do this in shower depending on how long you want to stay in the shower) with a thicker conditioning product that you can leave on anywhere from 10 up to 30 minutes. BE CAREFUL leaving deep conditioner on too long! Yes that is a thing. Depending on the ingredients in the conditioner you might need to watch the clock. For example if your conditioner has protein in it be careful not to leave it on too long because too much protein can damage your hair.

Two ways you can deep condition: You can apply the deep conditioner to your hair, make sure to saturate well, throw on a shower cap (the heat from your head helps the conditioner really penetrate the hair shaft), go on about your activities, and then rinse out in the shower. Or if you’re already in the shower, apply the deep conditioner, put on the shower cap, continue with shower activities, then rinse.

When to deep condition? Listen to your hair. Does your hair look or feel like it needs moisture? Have you deep conditioned in the last week? You can set a routine for deep conditioning like weekly or bi weekly. There is no right or wrong to when. Again I caution the regularity you deep condition depending on the product ingredients.

There’s really nothing to it. It’s a simple and easy way to take care of your hair.

Here are a few deep conditioners currently on rotation:
