ColourPop

Happy Sunday! Today I’m doing another beauty brand review. We’re talking about ColourPop.

ColourPop has come to Ulta,  previously you could only order from their website. So I figured I’d share my thoughts since this brand is more accessible now.

First let me say ColourPop has an amazing price point! They have great bundles and an awesome color range. I started with a lip bundle where I could try three products for less than purchasing separately. I started with the lip products and then into the eyeshadows.

The lip products I have include lip pencils, lippie sticks, and the ultra matte liquid lips. The color payoff and pigmentation on these products are fantastic. The staying power of the liquid lips is a little short for my taste and I have to say do not reapply over what’s left on your lips. Remove the product and reapply, if you don’t it will cake and flake. The lippie sticks are by far my favorite!

The pressed powder eyeshadows have nice color payoff and can be worn without a primer! The super shock shadows are too amazing for words! I have them in three different finishes matte, satin, and pearlized. The matte finish is my favorite but they are all great! Pigmented doesn’t even describe the nature of this color! Try them! They don’t flake and have awesome staying power.

Overall ColourPop has amazing quality at amazing prices. Order online or visit Ulta to try ColourPop!

Fenty Beauty

Happy Wednesday! Today I wanted to share my thoughts on Rihanna’s beauty line, Fenty Beauty.

I’ve tried a pretty good range of products and I have to say over all I am very impressed.

The line has amazing color range, product range, and versatility. Not to mention the quality is on point.

The price range is acceptable for the quality of product as well.

Pictured above are some of the products I’ve tried. My favorite being the primer and foundation! You can honestly wear the primer alone and look amazing. The foundation is just like skin! It’s based on the undertones of your skin,  wears well throughout the day,  and has a great color range.  Something for everyone.

The highlighter can be seen from space which is the best compliment for a highlighter ever. The match stixs are heaven for contouring! Creamy, great color payoff, blendable, and awesome wearability.

The matte lipsticks are average but I love the color range! My favorite is freckle fiesta. The gloss bomb was a shocker! I’m not a huge gloss girl but this is supposed to be universal and look good with anything on anybody and it does! I really like that.

The only disappointment I have is the lip stunna. It has amazing pigmentation but the staying power is not there. I had to reapply too often for my liking.

A few pics of me wearing Fenty. No filters on these pictures.

Have you tried Fenty yet?

The Ordinary

Happy Sunday! I’m excited about today’s post! Today we’re talking about The Ordinary.

I first learned about The Ordinary when it came to Sephora online. I was excited it was really affordable skincare with concentrated ingredients! Of course it sold out quickly and everytime I was ready to purchase it was sold out.

I was visiting a friend one day and she’s an esthetician, we got to talking about the brand and she told me to just order from their website! Duh Kim.

So I did! I bought a few products and I’ve been using them for a while and I want to share my thoughts.

I purchased:

  • The Buffet
  • Caffeine Solution 5%
  • Hyaluranic Acid 2%
  • High-Spreadability Fluid Primer
  • Serum Foundation

20180414_153850~2

The Buffet is a multi-technology peptide serum that targets multiple signs of aging at once. The peptides are based in 11 amino acids. The formula is not greasy and extremely hydrating.

The Caffeine Solution 5% is a light textured formula with a high concentration of caffeine to combat dark circles and puffiness in the eye contours. I have seen physical differences in my skin since using this product! I don’t deal with puffiness too much but dark circles have become a problem and I’ve seen a significant difference!

Hyaluronic Acid 2% is a hydration support formula with ultra pure vegan hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid can carry up to 1000 times its weight. This is a non-greasy formula that is extremely moisturizing and it penetrates the skin very well.

The High-Spreadability Fluid Primer is a spreadability enhancing lightweight surface smoother and primer with high flexibility silicones. This primer is non-oily and helps foundation go on smoothly and evenly. It feels great and gives a great finish.

The Serum Foundation is a lightweight pigment suspension system with moderate coverage. They have a range of 21 shades, that are lightweight for a natural finish with sun protection without any chemical sunscreen agents.

Best part is the price!

  • The Buffet $14.80
  • Caffeine Solution 5% $6.70
  • Hyaluronic Acid 2% $6.80
  • High-Spreadability Fluid Primer $7.90
  • Serum Foundation $6.70

I am extremely happy with the product quality, the results I’m seeing, the prices, and over all brand integrity. The Ordinary has propriety technology and cutting edge technics that make their products some of the best on the market.

Long story short try them!  They have an amazing range of products something for just about everything. And the prices are amazing!

Foundation

Let’s talk about foundation! I get questions all the time about what type of foundation is best for whatever type or skin or skin condition. So let’s dish!

20180330_203057~3

Typically I use a medium coverage foundation, I always try for a matte finish because I have combination skin, and I always color match for undertones. This is very important!

You have to know your skin in order to truly find the best foundation.

Dry skin needs moisture so try to stay away from matte finishes.

Oily skin produces its own moisture so you want to stay away from dewy finishes.

Skin prone to breakouts or active acne needs a light to medium coverage so your skin can breathe but look put together still.

If you are trying to cover scars, acne marks, or even skin tone a medium to full coverage is what you want.

There are foundations designed specifically for acne or sensitive skin so that is worth a try for those conditions. Some “healthy” skin foundation brands include Physicians Formula, Neutragena, Bare Minerals, Dr. Jart, or Perricone MD. Most of these have SPF too! Which is great and the mark of true healthy skin makeup.

For any skin type, tone, or condition you want to color match to your neck or chest and always remember your undertones.

Undertones can be cool, warm, or neutral. You can have pink undertones, red undertones, yellow undertones,  etc. There are many ways to determine your undertones as well. Like in the sun do you burn or tan? If you burn you’re cool if you tan you’re warm. Do you look better in silver or gold. If silver you’re cool if gold you’re warm. Look at your veins if they appear blue your cool,  if they appear green you’re warm, and if you can’t tell you’re neutral.

Undertones play a big part in the type of cosmetics you should wear not just foundation!

Then you can always choose bb/cc creams or powder foundations. With the beauty industry the choices really are endless!

If you still need help that’s ok! Visit Ulta or Sephora and get color matched but be sure to step outside in the natural light for confirmation and shopping with a trusted friend is always a good idea!
