Is Luxury Makeup Worth It?

Hello! Today we’re talking about luxury makeup. Yes, I have spent $60 plus on foundation or $40 plus on a lipstick. Was I paying more for the brand than the product? Absolutely! Was it worth it? That depends.

Make sure you understand the difference between high end makeup and luxury makeup. High end makeup can cost the same as luxury makeup sometimes but, luxury makeup is designer makeup i.e. YSL, Chanel. Givenchy, Armani, etc.

I’ve bought items that I would buy again in a heartbeat and other’s not so much. I think that goes with any makeup product. Either it’s a great product or it’s not no matter the price.

There are a few luxury items I’m going to talk about specifically to let you know if it’s worth it or not.

First: Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Price: $60

This product is hit or miss for me. The biggest problem is the color range of this foundation line. I could not get an exact match and I need to mix to get the right shade ($120 for two shades!!!!). However the product itself is a great product. If you can find your shade without mixing then this is definitely worth it. Great coverage and final results. At that price point however I do believe you are paying more for the name than the product.

Second: Marc Jacobs Enamored High Shine Nail Lacquer in Florescent Beige Price: $18

Truth be told the only reason I bought this was for the name of the shade! It’s an inside joke with one of my sisters about my favorite color being florescent beige. ANYWAY this polish, totally not worth it. You really are just paying for the name. There are way better quality less expensive polishes out there.

Third: Dior DiorShow Mascara Price: $30

This mascara is a permanent product in my routine. This mascara is most definitely a hit! I know exactly what I’m looking for in a mascara from actual product to brush shape. I can look at the way the wand comes out of the tube and tell you if that mascara is going to work for me. I’m a stickler on my mascara. This mascara hits all my points, I repurchase, and will continue to repurchase.

If you want to try luxury makeup I say go for it! Brands I recommend are Tom Ford, YSL, and Dior.

Brands I’m looking forward to trying: Burberry, Chanel, possibly Gucci.

All Facial Sprays Are Not Created Equal

Hello! As spring is flying in I’d like to address an issue that I have been seeing a lot of. Facial sprays. There are a lot of them on the market and they all claim certain benefits but one thing you MUST remember all facial sprays are not the same and cannot be used for the same thing.

A lot of facial sprays get a bad rep because they are being used wrong and the user gets upset.

Mistake #1 there is a difference between a facial spray and a setting spray. Most facial sprays on the market are not setting sprays unless it specifically says so. Setting sprays are meant to set the face once you’ve applied all your makeup, cut the powder on the face so you don’t end up looking chalky, and “fix” any little mistakes on the face i.e. soften makeup applied to heavily or soften hard lines. Facial sprays that are not for setting should be used apart of your skincare regimen. Facial sprays are often for hydrating purposes to add moisture back to the skin, calming, and sometimes toning.

Mistake #2 choosing the wrong facial spray. If you are looking for a setting spray then choose an actual setting spray. Next step choose what effect you want. Matte finish? Satin finish? Dewy finish? There’s a spray for that. Looking for just a facial spray again choose what effect you are looking for? Moisture? No fragrance? Toning? There are sprays for that. Please start paying attention to what you are shopping for and stop relying on Instagram and Youtube to tell you what you want.

Setting spray recommendations:

  • Mac Fix+
  • Makeup Forever Mist and Fix
  • Skindinavia (any of the formulas)

Facial spray recommendations:

  • Mario Badescu (any)
  • Evian Facial Spray
  • Caudalie Grape Water

Overall have fun! That’s the purpose of makeup! Try lots of stuff. When it comes to skincare listen to your skin. If you have search out a product that you feel will meet your needs perfectly and it’s a no go then that’s fair but stop giving products negativity because you want it to do something it wasn’t designed to do.

Review: Eva NYC Deeptox Exfoliating Salt Shampoo

Did you remember to SPRING forward?? Yes it is that time of year where we lose an hour but if you live anywhere near me we get to enjoy the sunshine a little longer today!

Today we’re continuing our discussion on healthy scalps with a review! Eva NYC Deeptox Exfoliating Salt Shampoo is another product used in exfoliating the scalp.

You can find Eva NYC products at Ulta, Target, and Sally Beauty. They are budget friendly and the packaging is cute.

Here’s the nitty gritty on the product: this product is meant for exfoliating therefore it contains sea salt and pomegranate enzymes. There are larger pieces of sea salt so this product can be a little abrasive and maybe not a great idea for sensitive scalps. The sea salt is going to exfoliate and clarify while the pomegranate enzymes are going to refresh the scalp. You want to work the product on the scalp using a little pressure but not too much, the sea salt is going to do the work.

This product is 100% vegan, cruelty free, non GMO, and contains no sulfates, parabens, or phthalates.

With this product you are on your way to a healthier scalp and a great foundation for healthy hair. The shampoo lifts dirt, impurities and build up without stripping the hair while refreshing the scalp. The sea salt is also going to help fight infection.

I keep a few scalp exfoliating products in my routine but I try to exfoliate once a week followed by a great deep conditioner.

Overall this is a great product that does exactly what it says it does and you can’t beat the price. I got mine from Sally Beauty for $12.

I’m excited to try a few other products from Eva NYC!

Beauty Fridge

Last post of 2019 and we’re talking chilled beauty! I finally got my hands on a beauty fridge! Thanks to my wonderful family and great Christmas presents!

I set my Cooluli beauty fridge up in my beauty room and I store masks, moisturizers, and my facial roller in there.

It’s very quite and really roomy. There’s lots of space for more products. The shelve is removable and you can organize how you like.

Mine is in white so it goes with everything and I’m totally enjoying it.

I’m so excited about this little gadget! Going into 2020 on the next level!
